Although Sally’s area of study at the San Francisco Art Institute focused on photography and mixed media, she also had the opportunity to study with experimental filmmaker Larry Jordan. She found that her work in the studio deeply influenced the look and feel of her films, and the span of her projects have included deeply personal investigations to straightforward inquiries on social, environmental, and cultural issues. Her feature length documentary, One Winter Story, has garnered national and international festival awards and nominations, including: St. Jean du Luz International Surf Film Festival du St. Jean de Luz, France – Grand Prize Award for Best Film; Santander International Sports Film Festival, Spain – Bronze Shell Special Jury Prize; Best Script Prize; Spanish Olympic Committee Special Award; 2007 Ocean Film Festival: Audience Choice Award; X-Dance: Nominated for Best Biography, Best Cinematography, & Best Soundtrack.
